The Unwelcome Visitor

The Unwelcome Visitor

A visitor pulled into a church parking lot
parked his car and cautiously out he got.
A car hurried in as in a race, driver yelled
"I always park there! You took my place!"

A Sunday School room, the visitor sought
found an empty seat and hoped to be taught
An older lady neared him, sneer on her face
"That's my seat! You took my place!"

Sunday School ended and the visitor went
to the sanctuary to hear the message God sent
a man walked up and uttered with disgrace
"That's where I sit! You took my place!"

Troubled in his heart was the visitor
hurt inside as he wondered what more
abuse he would take with a rude welcome
and where the next one would come from

During the service the congregation prayed
for Christ to dwell among them on this day. . .

The visitor's appearance began to change
showing horrible holes in His hands that hanged
and atrocious scars on His sandaled feet
and the smell of vinegar in His mouth so sweet
a crown of thorns, the blood ran free
standing there for them all to see

People gasped and wondered the cause
as a tear fell slowly and ran down his jaws
and with a sorrowful pain on his face
he answered the unasked question,
"I took your place."
